6 Necessary Ways To Rejuvenate Your Skin This Winter

Stepping out into the freezing temperatures for class is bad enough but when it starts affecting your skin, that’s when all hell breaks loose. It’s not something to be ashamed of, it happens to the best of us. Chapped lips and dry skin is basically what winter is all about, right? Try these few things to help your skin feel better, so you feel better.

  1. Drink more H2O. The more water you drink, the better. It’s not only good for your body, but it also helps your skin. It’s like your skin is a sponge; the less water it gets, the drier it becomes. But once the sponge receives enough water, it retains its normal texture. So next time you’re at lunch and you are about to order a Mountain Dew, opt for a cucumber-infused water instead. Then, you still get all the benefits of drinking water, plus a great taste.
  2. Use face wash every other day. Using face wash everyday can dry your skin out very quickly. It helps if you wash your face using warm water every other day and fore-go the face wash. Also, in the wintertime, use a cream based wash, rather than the types with exfoliating beads, or limit the use of the exfoliating beads wash.
  3. Use moisturizer. Using moisturizer is always important, but if you forget to put it on in the summer, it’s no big deal. In the winter, not putting on moisturizer, is asking for trouble. Apply it in the morning before putting on your makeup, then reapply at night after your shower within a few minutes of getting out. Sometimes, it even helps to reapply throughout the day if your skin really needs it or if you’re outside for long periods of time.
  4. Use Vaseline. After putting on moisturizer before bed, put a layer of Vaseline on the trouble areas. At night, Vaseline is really able to moisturize your face throughout the whole night rather than just a few hours after you put it on. In the morning, it can also help create a thicker barrier for the wind to break through to irritate the skin.
  5. Use lip balm often. Dry and cracked lips are everyone’s problem this time of year. Try using lip balm everyday and reapplying it every few hours. At night, opt for a thicker, medicated balm rather than your everyday Chapstick. Cracked lips are the most common problem in the winter months. Even using your toothbrush, to smooth out your lips, can help to recover their original texture.
  6. Eat more fruits. Start every day with a banana or an apple to get your skin the right amount of vitamins and sugars that you need. Most fruits are composed of mostly water that can help with your hydration. Your diet does a lot more than help your figure; it can also help your skin and make you feel better.

Using these tricks will help your skin return to its healthy state in no time. Drinking water along with a healthy diet and some moisturizer can solve a lot. You may have 99 problems, but dry skin is no longer one of them.
