From Red Lipstick to Diet Coke: 10 Things Girls Cannot Live Without

The words “I need a diet coke” run through my head on a daily basis more than I’d like to admit. Netflix is always the best plan for any night, and my hair rarely dries well naturally. There are certain universal things that every girl can appreciate and cherish. From clean sheets to chocolate, there are items without which life would be significantly worse. Here are ten things us girls seriously cannot live without.

1. Diet Coke

Diet Coke is honestly one of the greatest things on Earth. It’s a highly addictive drink, to the point where one might call it a lifestyle. A diet coke can is probably my most common accessory, as in I’m constantly drinking them. No matter how many times someone tells me how bad it is for me, I can’t and won’t stop drinking it.

2. Netflix

Sorry, but Netflix has to be on this list. It’s a staple in everyone’s life; if it’s not, I don’t think we can be friends. Netflix is the relief at the end of a long day, and many friendships have begun while bonding over TV shows in common. You can say I’m crazy, but I think you’re crazy if you don’t agree that binge watching The Office is way better than going out.

3. Red Lipstick

Every girl knows that putting on some red lipstick can bump their mood up and make them feel powerful and sexy. It’s a classic makeup piece that will never go out of style. There’s nothing like swiping on some red lipstick before running out the door and feeling like you can conquer anything.

4. Blow Dryer/Hair Straightener/Curler

These hair accessories are straight life savers. Wake up with a lions mane? Your straightener has got your back. Trying to add a little style to your hair? Your curler is totally up to the job. Have to shower but get out of your house ASAP? Your blow dryer was made for that. These hair accessories are totally necessary and extremely useful.

5. 7 for $27 deal at Victoria’s Secret & Aerie 

Buying new underwear is more fun than buying new clothes. They’re pretty, lacy, and always necessary. The deals at stores such as Victoria’s Secret and Aerie that allow you to mix and match 7 pairs of underwear for $27 is one of the best long-running clothes deals. It’s basically a rite of passage to make your first thong purchase at Victoria’s Secret or Aerie while stocking up on new undies with the 7 for $27 deal.

6. Easy Mac

Easy Mac is a beautiful thing. The microwaveable container of guaranteed deliciousness is there for you at 3 am., and it’s so easy and quick to make! Whether you’re drunk or you’re coming home from the library after a long night of work, the cheesy goodness is a definite necessity. Not only is Easy Mac delicious, but it’s also cheap which makes it even better for the average 20 year old.

7. Gum

Gum is a seriously under-appreciated commodity at times. Gum is the solution for when you run out of the door in the morning and forget to brush your teeth. There’s a reason everyone’s always desperate for gum. Gum can save you when you’re about to kiss a cute guy after a dinner date or a couple of drinks, and it saves you any breath embarrassment before a job interview.

8. Headphones

Headphones, and good headphones at that, are absolutely necessary. From walking to class to working out, listening to music through your headphones is sure to boost your mood and your work out. Headphones are also useful when you’re in a bad mood and don’t want to talk to anyone, or when you need to drown out the noise of the kid next to you tapping his pencil in the library. The worst days are when you forget your headphones, and have to go a day without music. I forgot mine on a day where I was going to be out walking around Montreal all day and ended up buying another pair because I was so desperate.

 9. Make-up Remover Wipes 

Make-up remover wipes are absolute lifesavers at the end of the day when facing the daily battle with your mascara. These wipes make life easier and everyone knows that water just doesn’t cut it when trying to remove eye makeup unless you like the raccoon look.

10. Pizza

Pizza in any way, shape, or form, is always necessary. It tests even better when drunk, and I know my friend group almost always gets pizza after a night out in Montreal. If there was no more pizza in the world, life would be way less awesome. Shoutout to pizza, you’re my love forever.

We have so much love for these ten items, and many more that make life so much better. There will never be a day, for better or worse, that I don’t enjoy a diet coke. Nights made up of Netflix binging and Easy Mac consumption are always awesome, and I’m so glad my mane can be saved with my straightener.
