As a self-proclaimed scarf addict, the second the leaves turn anything but green I look forward to the endless scarf possibilities that are around the corner. Whether you tend to favor a classic knit style, or you’re into the trendy blanket look, scarves are a fall transitional staple. Not only can they bring you much-needed warmth on a chilly day, scarves have the ability to completely take a look from drab to fab!
Let’s start this off with a simple knit scarf. Mixing a chunky knit with tights and a cute jacket, can easily help you take your staple summer dress into fall.
Fall is often where we transition into neutral and warm palettes. If you want to hang onto some colored sweaters throughout the fall, a black and white pattern can help neutralize strong colors.
In comparison, scarves can also be a great way to ADD color to your neutral palette. Don’t be afraid to jazz up your go-to leggings and a tee with a brightly colored scarf.
If you’re looking to add some drama to a simple outfit you may turn to a double-sided scarf. By having two different patterns in one scarf you get more versatility and flare out of one piece!
Fall fashion is all about bringing warm tones into our outfits. A simple patterned scarf with hints of burgundy can take a very simple outfit to the next level.
Grey scarves create a great contrast against simple white baggy sweater. This fringed look adds an element of fun to your standard sweater and skinny jean look.
My ultimate favorite is leopard print. This pattern is a neutral in my books, and helps add a bit of pizzazz to any fall outfit.
Of course, I can’t forget the newest addition to the scarf roster – the blanket scarf. When Lenny Kravitz first wore his blanket scarf, the world screamed out in shock.
Now, I’m not expecting anyone else to wear something quite as dramatic. Yet, after that moment, blanket scarves were EVERYWHERE.
Blanket scarves provide us with the perfect comfy-cozy look. Plaid is a safe and classic go-to blanket scarf look.
You can also add a blanket scarf to a classic summer swing dress with a cute pair of ankle booties. This option is an easy and practical way to get more bang out of your closet!
Fortunately for all of us, the longer the blanket style stuck around, the more creative people got! I personally LOVE the fact that you can turn your blanket scarf into a cute belted vest/poncho ensemble for added warmth!
Whatever the weather, scarves are a great way to liven up any outfit. They let you inject your personality and flare without having to step too far outside your comfort zone. So go on, try out a new scarf look this fall!
