Kygo’s New Album Is Guaranteed To Be The Soundtrack To Your Summer

Kygo is a young Norwegian DJ who rose to international stardom when he remixed I See Fire by Ed Sheeran.  Today, Kygo treated us all to his very first studio album, Cloud Nine,  which he happened to released via Soundcloud. THANK YOU FOR NOT MAKING US MAKE NEW FAKE EMAIL ACCOUNTS TO GET TRIALS FOR STREAMING SERVICES! (I’m not salty, I swear).

The album features 14 tracks with a number of amazing remixes, vocal performances from some of musics greatest performers, and all around bangers perfect for Summer.

Track 1: “Intro” (the first track) is pure instrumentals and gets you right in the mood to enjoy the ride that is going to be the album.

Track 2: Fiction blends our favourite elements of tropical house with some great lyrics about relationships “I can’t take just a fictional you… I can’t take just a picture of you”

Track 6: Happy Birthday features some sultry, John Legend vocals about someone who wants to sing happy birthday to their lover, overtop of that classic Kygo sound – how sweet!

Track 7: I’m In Love features the vocal stylings of one of my favourite artists, James Vincent McMorrow who rose to fame with his hit, If I Had A Boat and who’s cover of Wicked Game was used for a season six Game of Thrones trailer.

Track 8: Oasis is the track for you if you just can’t get enough of Sia. Sia’s powerful vocals are showcased throughout the song, but Kygo hit’s a grand slam and makes this a song that you won’t easily forget.

Track 9: Not Alone is a small departure from the other tracks, but features some incredibly charming lyrics about love “Oh oh oh, I’ll just lay here and wait/ For the first light of the day/ Oh oh oh, you’re the sun that I crave/ You’re the first light of the day”

Track 10: Serious treats us to some tasty vocals from Matt Corby, who was a runner up on Australian Idol and rose to fame from his song “Brother”. The song starts slow, mellow, and with deep vocals, but it builds slowly into a musical gift, one that I know I certainly can’t stop playing!

Track 13: Fragile, Kygo and Labrinth share this trackLabrinth brings stunning vocal prowess to the second last track that will speak right to your soul. In this track, Kygo bids adieu to his classic tropical house sound and instead makes way for rock guitar sounds.

Track 14: Carry Me is classic Kygo. After the song with Labrinth said bye bye to Kygo’s tropical sound, Carry Me heralds it back in, with stellar vocals and a catchy beat.

Tracks 2, 4, 5, 11, 12: Stole The Show, RagingFirestone, Stay and Nothing Left. You’ve probably already heard these gems on the radio but they are still fire.

Thank you Kygo for starting my weekend off with a much needed bang. Listen to this whole album on freaking repeat because I definitely am.
