You’re a little nervous. You’ve put the last touch of makeup on and now you are technically ready for your first date. Maybe you’ve been talking to this guy for a while and have sent some flirtatious texts. Or maybe it is a blind date. Whoever it is, you’re probably trying to figure out the last things you need to put in your purse. This is what I like to call the First Date Emergency Kit.This will insure all your bases are covered in case something goes down in those couple of hours. Here is what you’ll need:
- Money
This might me seem obvious, but you never know if you need to get out of a situation. Maybe he forgets to bring his wallet, you go halves, or maybe you need a quick getaway cab and an Uber isn’t available for another 12 mins..
- Uber
Make sure you have this downloaded on your phone. In case he’s picking you up, but halfway through the date it tours pretty sour – you’ll be grateful you pre-loaded it to your phone to avoid an awkward situation later. You’ll need to get the hell out of there. Uber is your best friend in getting home, or maybe straight to the next bar.
- Gum or Mints
If you just ate and are thinking the guy is going to kiss you make sure your breath is minty fresh. You don’t want to ruin a good first kiss by leftover pasta breath… Make sure you have plenty of gums or mints to last the entirety of the date.
- Best Friend Emergency Call
If you don’t know how it will go, make sure your friend calls you half way through the night to check in. This is your get out of jail free card if it isn’t going well and need to get out. It’s an emergency or something and you’ll have a perfect excuse to leave. If the date is going well, you can just let it go to voicemail.
- Mini Bottle or Flask
If you’re not going on a traditional date and need some liquid courage to get through it, buy a little airplane size alcohol or maybe mini champagne bottle. You can even throw a few of the chocolate shots in your purse. You’ll be feeling better in no time. Plus it’s going to make you feel better no matter how your date goes.
I hope your next first date goes amazing well, and you fall in love and end up getting married! If you’re like the rest of us it will probably be mediocre and you’ll have to tell him you just want to be friends. This is why to ensure you get through your first date, or at least half of it with you dignity still intact. Remember all these pieces and you should be good to go! Good luck!
