Well ladies, the best time of the year has officially arrived, summer! And with the warm weather upon us, the planning for a beach day getaway has officially started. You pack a massive towel, a bikini to make the boys swoon over you, a cooler full of goodies, and a sassy pair of shades. With the breeze and water combination it’s really hard to stay sexy like a Sports Illustrated model, so here’s a list of the best ways to style your hair to battle the beach.
1. Braid It Baby
The best part about doing a braid is that you can keep your hair out of your face, still look fashionable and remain cool. They can also be done a million different ways, so if you go to the beach often, you can switch up styles each time you go. Versatility is key! Plus a braid can totally make you look like a beach volleyball player… And men just love staring at those.
2. Bun It Up
Similar to when you have a bad hair day, putting it in a bun is a life saver. It keeps your hair from flying free, like if you had it in a ponytail, and keeps the sand from getting in your hair. (Let’s be honest, it still finds its way into every nook and cranny of our body, but it does help minimize)!
3. Braid & Bun In One
For those moments where you can’t decide between number 1 and 2. You want the sexiness of a braid but the comfort and ease of a bun. Lucky for you, you can have the best of both worlds. The braid bun can be done in many styles, from french braid bun to double dutch braid bun, the options are endless.
4. Bandana Lovin’
The best part about bandana’s is that you can style them in a number of ways, and they will always make you feel like a bit of a bad b*tch. If you’re planning on going out in the water, you can tie it up around your head to help with frizz, or you can wrap it around your hair like a headband to help contain your flyaways.
5. Baseball Hat Heaven
Acting as a double dose of protection, baseball hats protect our scalps from the damaging rays and help hide the blinding sun as well. The only bummer with these hats are that you can only wear them with a lower braid or ponytail coming out of the back. It makes you look sporty, relaxed and gives you a great conversation starter with guys if you have a nice logo on the front. Coy and convenient as I like to put it.
Styling for the beach can be easy and effortless. And as an added bonus, it’s a lot less stressful than focusing on your choice of bathing suit. May your hair remain sand free, your tan be darker, the drinks colder and may your Instagram pics be on point. Enjoy beach babes. XO
