I’ve always been a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. When my current employer changed the dress code from business casual to just plain casual, my heart actually skipped with happiness. When it comes to beauty and fashion, I have always admired from afar. I love it, but with thick long hair, and a morning routine in place, well, thanks but I’ll pass. My morning routine is quick, easy, and excellent for a lazy beauty girl like me. Even though I stick to my morning routine religiously, these are five of my favorite, go-to products I just had to share.
Dry Shampoo
As I said before, I have ridiculously thick, long hair. It takes me a minimum of 45 minutes just to get a flat-iron through my hair. Talk about a time-consuming upper body workout, no gym membership required. To be honest, I only wash my hair every four to five days. You say gross, I say convenient. I’ve experimented with plenty of dry shampoos. To each their own, but lately I’ve been in love with Tresemme’s Dry Shampoo. It smells amazing, and gets the job done for a low price you can find just about everywhere. Just a warning, it is white, so if you have dark hair, be careful to not over do it.
Mascara
The difference a coat or two of mascara can make not only to how I look, but also how I feel. I immediately look much more vibrant and awake when I wear mascara. Who knew some black goop on my eyelashes would make that much of a difference? I feel more confident and like I can conquer the day. Some mascaras make my eyes hurt, and others make my lashes clump together. #firstworldproblems. Lately, I’ve been using NYX Baby Doll mascara. My lashes have never looked so long and sultry. It’s affordable, and makes my eyelashes, and me, feel extra nice.
Eyebrow Pencil
My eyebrows are actually pretty sparse despite my mane of hair, so when I use a little pencil on them, BAM. The amount of confidence I get from having my eyebrows filled in is lifechanging. The term brows on fleek exists for a reason. Every girl gets an immense sense of satisfaction when both brows are shaped the exact same way. I’ve been loving Maybelline’s Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil. It is the perfect shade for my dark blonde eyebrows. Oh, the glory.
Earrings
Fun fact about me: I was born without my left earlobe. Luckily, when I was seven, I got surgery to have an earlobe made. Ever since then I have loved wearing earrings. Even men have fun picking out earrings for themselves. They make me feel put together and sophisticated. I also seem to stand a little taller when I know I have something pretty hanging from my ears. I’ve fallen in love with the diamond earrings my dad got for my mom a while back as a gift. What girl would ever turn down diamonds?
Perfume
Perfume is such a personal preference. Plus, our body’s chemistry can completely make a perfume smell differently. It’s so weird, and can be completely frustrating. Personally, though, I love sweet and floral scents. Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf has been my go to for a few years. Before that, I loved Princess by Vera Wang. When I’m complimented while wearing my favorite perfume it makes me smile and feel so much more confident. I spray my neck, wrists, and rub a bit behind my ears. I also walk through a spray or two for good measure.
It doesn’t take much to make me feel confident. Even if I haven’t washed my hair in a few days, I love knowing that I have a way around it. Or, if I need a pick me up, I know the go-to products that make me feel more put together. Confidence comes from within first, but if I can accentuate what I love, why the heck not? Girl, you do you. I’ve learned over the years that a few coats of mascara, perfume, and my mama’s earrings can go a long way.
