Working out is easier said than done, and let’s face it, you either love it or you hate it (or you hate it while pretending to love it). Everyone has different techniques to make their workouts just a little more tolerable. Some people like to have a set schedule for every day of the week, others prefer to try classes only, and most like to go with a friend. Personally, I find playing certain songs helps kick up the intensity of my workouts and gives me a better result. If you are struggling to keep your workout pumped up, here are a few great tunes to do your workouts to.
Squats
Squatting to the beat of a song can be an absolute life changer. It makes you feel like you’re the sexy lead in a music video, while making your butt really pop. During certain parts of the songs, you can take a rest when the beat is a little harder to follow, and drop it low when that’s where the beat goes.
Black Widow – Iggy Azalea ft. Rita Ora
Side to Side – Ariana Grande ft. Nicki Minaj
Cardio
Running is running. There’s no making it any better since it already sucks. However, when I run, I play the most bizarre songs to get me feeling pumped up.
Fight Night – Migos (warning: inappropriate language!)
Don’t Stop – 5 Seconds of Summer
Elliptical
I love the elliptical! It works your entire body but it doesn’t feel like you are. It’s a nice replacement for running if you want to keep your impact low for the day, and it burns a whole lot of calories. Plus they are usually placed in front of TV’s so you can easily get distracted. The kind of songs I like to listen to when I’m on one range from different tempos so I can change the intensity of how fast I go.
Salute – Little Mix
I Wanna Go – Britney Spears
Stationary Bike
This is another great way to work your legs and keep your heart pumping. Anything with a quick or loud beat helps does the trick to distract you from the fact you actually aren’t going anywhere!
Bad Blood – Taylor Swift
Drag Me Down – One Direction
Weight Lifting
When I’m lifting weights, I love to get lost in the music and really go into beast mode. I love to listen to songs that enhance that feeling within myself. Empowering or catchy songs can most definitely help with your motivation to do better.
Do It Like a Dude – Jessie J
Ayo – Chris Brown ft. Tyga
Ab Work
Just seeing the word “abs” makes you cringe, especially if you know you want a better mid-section, but can’t seem to get in habit of doing your sit ups and crunches. Picking your music for core enhancing activities is vital, so choose songs you can blare in your headphones and get lost in while your belly burns.
M.I.L.F. $ – Fergie
All In My Head – Fifth Harmony
And there you have it, a mixed bag of music to help you get the energy and feel like you’re in the zone for your workout. Obviously choose the songs you enjoy the most, but try to avoid slow songs since it subconsciously makes you work a little slower than normal. Or, create a throwback playlist that gives you a certain kind of spark when you hear those songs again. It works every time! Enjoy going to the gym and let the music make you lose control.
