ASMR is way more common than you think and most of us actually have it.
So what the heck is ASMR? Well, it stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, but you probably know it as a tingling sensation you get on your skin and scalp triggered by your stimuli of choice.
Seriously. THERE IS A NAME FOR THAT. I know. I was mind-blown too.
Basically all those tweets about “back tickles are life” could not be more true for people who experience ASMR.
ASMR is the best feeling ever. Many compare it to low-grade euphoria because it feels so dang good and usually makes you feel as though you have no worries in the world. It’s relaxing and awesome and I feel bad for the all people who don’t know the feeling I’m talking about.
The best part about ASMR is that it is so individualized. Some people are enveloped by the electric yummy-ness through a simple whisper or soft voice. Others love receiving tender personal affection such as having somebody play with their hair or trace their skin with their fingers.
Since the internet obviously has everything you could ever imagine, I decided to Google ASMR and realized that there is a massive YouTube community devoted to triggering your ASMR ~fantasies~. One of the most followed accounts is here so that you can check it out because I may or may not have some of their videos saved to my favorites, which kind of sounds like I have some weird ASMR porn stash but I don’t even care!!
Some people even consider ASMR to be a type of “head orgasm” which I personally think is taking it a bit too far but call it what you want. However, I might use this term to con my boyfriend into giving me back tickles next time we hangout.
So there you have it. If you’re reading this and know exactly the feeling I’m talking about then I have just given you a diagnosis. If you’re reading this and have no idea what I’m referring to then I suggest you check the link I’ve given you and see if any of those videos ~tickle~ (ha!) your fancy.
Hooray for ASMR!!
