14 Reasons You Always Wanted To Be Rory Gilmore

The reason I love Gilmore Girls so much is because it was so real, and I constantly find myself thinking “I’ve been in that situation before.” The reason for this is Rory Gilmore. She is the most relatable character for us “millennials” and that is a great thing. Watching the show, we saw her go from high school to graduating from Yale, and while we can’t all go to Yale, there are countless moments along the way that made us say “Rory Gilmore is my spirit animal.” Here are just a few reasons why:

1. Her mom is her best friend.

True friends are hard to come by, and Moms not only love you from the day you’re born, but they tell you like it is in the most motherly way, they know everything about you, and it is a bond that will never break.

2. Her kick ass comebacks.

“Buttface miscreant” is pretty much the only come back you’ll ever need.

3. Her love of coffee.

I know she got it from her mama, but in University, excessive amounts of coffee are necessary, and Rory knows it.

4. Her love of food in general.

She clearly has her priorities straight, and understands what is at the top of the food chain.

5. She says how we all feel about a first date, or any date for that matter.

Pretty much how things go on a daily basis.

6. She doesn’t have it all together.

Although she always seemed like she had it figured out, she had her faults, as we all do, and she wasn’t afraid to say so.

7. She has her guilty pleasures.

I mean, I can’t say I love smelling old books, but I have been known to have a jam session in the car or shower, and pretend I’m a superstar. Don’t act like you don’t have any guilty pleasures.

8. She isn’t much of a morning person.

I’m a strong believer that classes before 11 should be illegal.

9. Weird things happen to her.

It’s true, I am more likely to get hit by a deer, or at least something equally as weird.

10. She questions the cute boys’ ulterior motives instead of trusting him right away.

Take a lesson from Rory here ladies. I know, Jess was cute, but bad boys are not always good.

11. She can’t always be taken seriously.

I definitely promised my mom to “pull a Rory” at my graduation ceremony this year.

12. But she knows when it’s time to get serious.

Really, when it’s crunch time, I’m certainly not worried about how I look. Side note: wearing sweats to class in University/College is perfectly acceptable because no one cares.

13. Logan. Enough said.

Handsome, rich, sweet and smart. Good call Rory. Don’t we all want one?

14. She tells it like it is.

Yes, yes it is.

Ultimately, she knows that no matter where life takes her, home is where the heart is. I think the lesson here is that Rory is as real as it gets when it comes to television characters. She knows what she wants, and she goes for it. She was never the popular girl, but she didn’t care what people thought about her. She understands the importance of family, and although she had her downfalls (aka that time she stole a boat), she found a way to pick herself back up and do what she had to do.
