It’s not uncommon to be afraid of death. It’s not inhuman to be afraid to die. When we think of death, we’re afraid because it’s uncharted territory. We don’t know what lies on the other side, and we’re worried that we won’t have enough time to do what we still want to do here. But most of all? We’re afraid of being forgotten.
What if I told you that there was a way to live forever? I’ll let you in on a little secret: there is a way. If you want to live forever, love a writer. But more importantly, make them love you.
If you can love a writer, you will always exist. You’ll live forever in their thoughts and memories, but even more so, you’ll exist to everyone else who reads their writing. If a writer loves you, you will never die. Your descriptions, your memories, your personality – it will live forever as ink on paper.
People who never met you will feel like they knew you. They’ll get a look at what your life was like when you were with this writer, peering in through a portal disguised as pages in a book. You’ll get a chance to see yourself through the eyes of someone else – someone who loves you. Someone who isn’t blinded to your flaws and someone who embraces them. They’ll see every angle of you. I mean, really see them. You’ll learn things about yourself didn’t even know because they’ll see you in ways that no other person has ever seen you. They’ll see the beauty in you, even the beauty that you didn’t know you had, and that they’ll recreate that beauty for the rest of the world with exquisite words and phrases, tied together in a bow. They’ll leave traces of you in pieces of their writing, and you’ll be able to see for yourself all of the reasons why they love you.
If you fall in love with a writer, you will always be able to go back and visit the exact moment that they fell in love with you, and you’ll never forget the reasons why you fell in love with them, for they’ll live forever on paper right there next to you.
You’re going to feel a love you’ve never felt before because writers love and feel much deeper than most. And when you’re gone, you’ll still be there, in their hearts and in their writing. Once they start loving you, they’ll never stop. It’s hard to let go because you’ll always be there.
How you existed at that point in your life is going to be exactly how you’ll exist forever, a snapshot frozen in time. Things that seem mundane and simplistic to you are colorful and full of life and much more complex to them. They create layers to everything they see. Things are not just what they seem, and neither are you. You are a beautiful human being and that writer is going to show the world just that.
So if you want to live forever, love a writer. Earn their love back and you will never die.
