I just recently started reading this novel, a self-help book on the ways to improve your life and how to be the person you want to be without hesitation. Let’s just say, wow… it has given me much to write about. This book has so many different sentences and quotes that really make you think but I came across this one today and just had to share it. “Your faith in the universe must be stronger than your fear of not getting what you want.” you all may think this is complete bullsh*t but when you start to read this novel – You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero – you come to realize more about life and why it shouldn’t be as hard as we make it seem to be.
Your faith in the universe must be stronger than your fear of not getting what you want… what does that even mean? The best way to put this is to of course quote Sincero “It’s like hiring someone to clean your house so you can focus on the other work you enjoy doing. You explain in detail what they’re supposed to do, show them where the broom is, and tell them you’ll beat them to death if they break the ceramic mugs your niece made for you, but you trust them with the job. If you’re constantly hovering over them and grabbing the sponge out of their hands they’ll never get their work done and you’ll stay in the overwhelmed struggle, preventing yourself from the reaping the benefits that inspired you to hire the cleaning crew in the first place.”
It the absolute truth. Maybe you’re religious and your faith is involved with something other than the universe – there is nothing wrong with that – or maybe you simply believe everything happens for a reason. Either way, take control and see what putting your faith in something else can do to your life.
I promise you, I am not crazy. I am speaking about this because I believe in it, as it has done wonderful things for my life, as well as many others. Personally, I found when I stopped trying to keep myself buried in work, that I didn’t even want to do in the first place, I found myself in a situation that essentially led to my happiness as it is right now. I gave myself a week (a painful week) full of absolutely nothing. I do have a passion for writing that I always do but I even stopped that and because I wasn’t calling for anything or trying to make my life perfect, this wonderful opportunity fell into my lap. A newspaper in my hometown was looking for a local reporter. I told myself, “if I just applied that maybe it would point me in the right direction of where I need to go next,” and that is just what I did. I applied and didn’t hear back for a few days but then I got an email that took me by surprise and ta da, I am back home where I realized I needed to be with my family, and loving every minute of it. I get to do the thing I love and get paid for it, I get to see my family every day, I now see this place for more than I did before and in all honestly am in love with my life at this exact moment.
I know that this experience is leading me to my next experience but I am more than okay with that. I think that is one thing we humans do have to realize. We have to understand that our life isn’t necessarily on a time clock but more on an experience clock. One experience after the next but each experience leading you to your next move, your next step to living life. Until one day you are able to look back and say “yes, yes I understand why that had to happen now.” Until that day comes… take every opportunity and every adventure as it is meant to be your last. Realize why dating that boy for so long did you good, realize that you failed that class because you needed to fall and get back up, bad things lead you to the better things life has to offer.
Relieving myself from doing the things I wasn’t liking anymore just allowed for life to catch me and take me on the ride I was made to be on. Sometimes all it takes is taking a breath, believing in more than yourself and being patient. Everything will fall into place at one point, you’ll see it eventually. Just remember, your faith in the universe must be stronger than your fear of not getting what you want, for the things you want to make their way to your doorstep.
