Rihanna continues to make her mark in the world and proves that she’s a badass in every sense of the word. While dominating the music charts, she’s managed to lend her efforts to ensure children around the world receive a good education. Of course, she isn’t doing it by herself (although we suspect she could). She’s getting leaders from around the world involved in the effort.

Recently, RiRi tweeted to global leaders individually about advocating for educational causes. Her passion for education started off with a personalized tweet to the president of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, with the hashtag #FundEducation. She followed that up with several more tweets to Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada; influential German journalist, Steffen Seibert; and the relatively new president of France, Emmanuel Macron.
While celebrities are typically heralded for their show-stopping music, acting prowess, or red carpet appearances, their activist efforts for different causes off camera don’t usually take center stage. However, as we all know, life isn’t so much about what we do for ourselves as it is what we do to make the world a better place and increase the well-being of the people around us. A focus on education is a step in the right direction for with a good education, children and young adults are armed to make a major difference in their space in the world.
This isn’t the first time RiRi has spoken up about education. In fact, in 2012, she created the Clara Lionel Foundation to support health care and education rights. And just last year, the foundation teamed up with Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education to help ensure children everywhere are able to get a quality education.
It will be quite interesting to watch these words turn into action in each of these countries. Rihanna’s tweets bear similar messages for each leader.

While we may not be Rihanna, we can each do something to ensure children in our community receive the education they need to live the best life possible. Every child has a talent or skill to do something great in the world, but mostly what they need is an opportunity — a place to learn, to grow, to create, to prove themselves.
We can join RiRi in this effort by writing or tweeting to our community, city, state, and national leaders about the need for improved school districts, better lunch programs, accessible after-school programs, and funding for better classrooms, textbooks, and school supplies. It is up to us to make this difference in the world. Together, we can be dedicated to ensuring education is affordable and available around the world.
