It’s been a long time since the world was introduced to the crazy crew from the Jersey Shore. Yes, the show was a guilty pleasure for most and the butt of every joke. The crazy thing is a lot of people miss watching a show like that because it was so bad you couldn’t look away. And if you’re one of those missing those guido’s and guidette’s, boy do I have a show for you: Geordie Shore, the UK version.
That’s right Jshore cast, you got replaced.
The show takes place in a party city in the UK, otherwise known as Newcastle. They took random party regulars in the area and stuck them in a house together where basically… The same kind of thing happened as in the original version.
But how do they compare? Well I got you covered with a few short points. They both work crappy jobs to stay in the house, they have their hotspots, there are couples within the house, loads of fights, they are crazy (literally) and they all have a lot, and I mean a lot of sex. They’re very similar!
Now let’s get to why Geordie Shore is far better and more addicting than Jersey Shore:
The Cast
In Jersey Shore there were only a few cast members that changed, aka that dirty hamster Angelina and Deena. In Geordie Shore you often see maybe one or two cast members change out, but the original crew stayed together for a long time. They even had a season dedicated to finding a new housemate. It works well for the show to keep it more interesting because the dynamic changes, yet still stays the same. It’s odd, yet you can’t help but fall in love with all of them.
The Longevity
Because they are always on the hunt for new roommates Geordie Shore is currently filming their 16th season, where as Jersey Shore only made it to 6. G Shore even had a special anniversary series to celebrate their milestone birthday that resulted in all of the cast mates to ever be in the show, except for three, come back into the madness.
The Romances
Everyone remembers Ron and Sam, and the little love triangle between Snooki, Vinny and Gionni, Snooki’s now husband. But the rocky relationship between Charlotte and Gary is the most relatable thing and every woman can relate to that situation. Although Charlotte eventually left the house, Aaron and Marnie, and Chloe and Marty make up for it.
The Terms
If we thought the terms Gorilla, DTF, GTL, smoosh and meatball were weird, yet totally trendy at the time, the one’s the Geordie’s say are even better! Mortal means getting drunk, pulling means they’re trying to hook up, necking on with a bird means they are making out with a chick, just to name a few. Plus, they have British accents so it automatically sounds better.
Honestly, do yourself a favour and start tuning in to MTV to watch the show or stream it online, because it will be your newest TV obsession. And binging will be one of your favourite things to do and your hardest things to stop. It’s a smashing good time!
