I’ll admit, I love MTV shows because the gossip that happens off the screen and is revealed on the newest seasons just make the drama that much juicer. Watching the cast mates spill the tea gives me life! Especially because I don’t always know what’s going on until that moment.
However, this time these two stars announced their news on social media rather than wait for a new season. And it’s probably the most shocking news I’ve heard in a long time.
Cory Wharton shocked everyone on December 16th by revealing he and Cheyenne Floyd share a nine month old daughter, Ryder K.
Fans of the show were shocked to learn that Cory was the father of Cheyenne’s baby. For months she had posted on social media with no indications of who the father was and made it clear that she was doing it primarily on her own.
Obviously it’s unsure of how long Cory has known he was the father, but it seems that this was a semi recent discovery. Since the news has broken Cory announced he has moved from Michigan to Southern California to live ten minutes away from his new baby girl.
From what we saw during the season of The Challenge they shared together, the two couldn’t be more different. He has the reputation of being the player who sleeps with everybody, while she was seen as the shy and quiet girl who was often a target of bullying by veterans on the show (*cough* Johnny Bananas *cough*).
Cory recently told US Weekly about what it was like to find out he was going to be a dad: “Everything changed. At one point, I was just searching to figure out what my next move is. Reality TV’s not forever…. As for day-to-day, life has completely changed. My gym time has moved up to 5 in the morning, then I go over to Cheyenne’s house, and I’m with my daughter from 10 in the morning until 10 at night when she falls asleep. My biggest thing is just being in her life as much as possible and just showing her that I love her.”
He also emphasized that his co-parenting relationship with Cheyenne is extremely strong and that she supports him to continue to do the show The Challenge while he still can.
Cory is originally from The Real World: Explosion while Cheyenne got her start on Are You The One?, the two first met when they both competed together on The Challenge: Rivals III in 2016. Cheyenne and partner/former foe Devin finished third that season.
Cory now joins Tony, Derrick, and CT in the dad group on the series and hopes to bring home the grand prize on season 31 of The Challenge: Vendetta’s that airs January 2nd, 2018.
