Hello fist-pumping, goodbye boring Thursday nights! April 5th marks the return of Jerzday. Having watched every episode of Jersey Shore religiously, when I heard about the Jersey Shore reboot, the teenage girl inside of me screamed at the top of her lungs, but the cynical twenty-something-year-old started doubting how good this season would turn out to be.
Let’s rewind a bit. I remember when the first season of Jersey Shore aired, back in 2009 when I was still in high school, and it was the best possible drama. It was just so raw and uncensored (even when it was censored). However, as the seasons kept on rolling in, the show got a bit mundane; it was the same hook-up stories, the same parties and the same gym-tan-laundry lifestyle. So, here’s million-dollar question: Will the new season live up to the old hype? Here is an update on the old crew and what I definitely missed about them.
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi
Nicole is now (what seems to be) happily married and has two kids with Jionni LaValle. Being so caught up in the whole mom business, will she really kick it old-school in the new season of Jersey shore? The fun of watching Snooki was the fact that she was like the majority of us: trying to find the right guy but falling flat on her ass in the process (sometimes literally).
Jenni “Jwoww” Farley

The fans of Jersey Shore have seen Jwoww’s relationship with Roger Mathews blossom (and they are now happily married with two kids), so it’s interesting to see how married life could have changed Jenni.
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino

I think that, at some point or another, the majority of viewers disliked Mike. From his constant diva antics to his meddling persona, it might be heard to see Mike as the good guy. However, he is now engaged, so there might be a different Mike coming into the house this season.
Pauly D DelVecchio
Pauly has always seemed like he is really down to earth and always a good time, so he was one of my favourites. It will be interesting to see how he has changed after becoming a father. P.S. His blowout is still there!
Vinny Guadagnino
I think I am most excited about this season because of Pauly’s and Vinny’s bromance; these guys are friendship goals! Also, as the baby of the house (He and Snooki were both 21 when the show premiered), it will be interesting to see how Vinny has matured throughout these years off the air.
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro
I feel like I didn’t really see much of Ronnie, with Sammi always pushing his buttons. Their relationship was at the forefront of how viewers perceived them. It will be interesting to see how much different Ronnie will be without Sammi around. He is now committed and expecting his first child, which means he is not going to be looking for any hookups on the show.
Deena Cortese
Deena was a sweet goofball. It makes me happy that she found love and married Christopher Buckner last October. The trailer showed her being super friendly towards her neighbours, so one thing I can say for sure is that she definitely did not quiet down over the years!
Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola
Spoiler alert: There is no Sammi in the new season. Even though I think I was not the only one who disliked this girl, the show still will not be the same without her. I mean, who can forget her “Stahp Rahn?”
Seeing how the majority of the cast are now in relationships and have kids, it will be interesting to see the “adult” and “more mature” versions of them. Maybe this will mean less petty drama and more fun times partying. The bottom line is that these seven sure know how to have a good time, so it will turn out to be an interesting season!
