It’s official!
Cardi B is expecting her first child with fiancé, Offset, and we are all secretly shedding some tears of joy for her. Cardi commented on the support stating, “The love I am receiving is overwhelming.”
After dodging rumors for months, Cardi B confirmed her pregnancy to the world on her recent appearance on Saturday Night Live in a body-hugging, white Christian Siriano body-con gown.
She may be expecting, but that doesn’t mean that will stop her from having “diamonds all over her body.”
Cardi has set the record of winning the most awards, had a great Grammy performance with Bruno Mars, has been featured in high-profile magazines like the New York Times and the Rolling Stones, a record deal with Atlantic Records and became the first solo rapper to top the Billboards 100 since Lauryn Hill. The pregnancy is the ultimate icing on the cake for the 25-year-old rapper.
Cardi released her debut album ‘Invasion of Privacy’ last Friday and it is already receiving an outpouring of support from fans and celebs, including Erykah Badu and even, wait for it ya’ll, Oprah!
On Oprah’s magazine Instagram page, Oprah posted a picture with her eyes closed and the caption read, “Listening to that new Cardi B album.”
Cardi responded in the only way anyone would ever respond to Oprah shouting them out stating, “I CAAAANNNNTTTTTT BELIIIEEEEEVEEEEESS IT !!!!!!!!!! OMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGG.”
It is safe to say that Cardi is the true definition of someone who is unapologetically herself, has big dreams and chooses to go after them wholeheartedly.
Many fans flocked to Cardi in the beginning because of her hilarious Instagram videos, her former career as a stripper and as a cast member of Love and Hip Hop: New York.
While on the show, she release two singles “Cheap Ass Weave” and “On Fleek”. But they didn’t receive nearly as much hype as “Bodak Yellow”.
Cardi had a passion for rapping and that is what motivated her to quit stripping at age 23 and venture out into the social scene. She carved out an empire for herself through her online presence, even though she has said that stripping is what “saved her life” because she saw how she could do better for herself.
Cardi has also been open about her past struggles of living in poverty and escaping an abusive relationship.
“I have real good parents, they poor. They have regular, poor jobs and whar not. They real good people and what not, I was just raised in a bad society.”
After escaping an abusive relationship, she states, “There was two pitbulls in that house and I had asthma. On top of that, I felt like he was cheating on me, but I was like, even if he is, where was I gonna go?’
Despite her unfortunate past, Cardi has a bright future ahead of her. Now, not only does Cardi have a platinum album under her belt and booming success, she is a soon-to-be-mom with her past behind her. Women everywhere can now celebrate the fact that they have someone to look up to on their way to success.
Cardi is due sometime in July and we all can’t wait to welcome a mini Bardi to the world.
