There are not enough words to describe the experience of attending a music festival. They’re fun filled weekends packed with hundreds of artists and you and close to 100,000 fans. It’s truly a once in a lifetime type of environment.
Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas 2018 took place this past weekend and it certainly did not disappoint. I can say that having attended the festival this year was a bittersweet feeling, especially with tragic loss of Avicii, who took his own life last month.
At EDC, there is something for everyone, whether you’re a casual electronic dance music fan or a true fan of the genre. I’m going to break down the biggest moments you missed from this weekend.
1. Tiesto’s Extended Tribute to Avicii
Tiesto’s set at EDC was high on my bucket list for the weekend. Tiesto is a world class DJ and the ability to see him perform live is magical. It came as no surprise to the audience that there would be a tribute to Avicii, one of Tiesto’s friends and fellow artist. What I, along with the rest of the audience was not expecting, was a whopping 12 minute tribute. Tiesto had the crowd moving and also in their feels as he brought out Aloe Blac to sing “Wake Me Up” as well as a slew of Avicii classics. I’m not crying, you’re crying.
2. Bhad Babie Crashes EDC
When I signed up to go to EDC, I knew that there would always be surprises. Last year at EDC, DJ Khaled was brought out on stage and was booed IMMEDIATELY. This year’s WTF moment came courtesy of Bhad Babie, aka the “Cash Me Ousside Girl” aka Danielle Bregoli. The DJ tandem known as Yellow Claw segued their set into her introduction and to my surprise, the crowd was super receptive to her in my opinion. Do I think she’s a great rapper? Absolutely not, but she hustles and she hustles hard.

3. Wiz Khalifa Leads Crowd Singalong
During Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s set, they announced they were going to play their brand new track never released before that night. To the crowd’s surprise, it was Wiz Khalifa who came out to do his track. Titled “When I Grow Up”, the chorus was super catchy and everyone was on their feet. I’ve never seen Wiz live before, so this was a special treat for me as well. He certainly knew what the fans wanted and so did Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.
4. Celebrities Wander the Crowd
Everyone’s favorite new obsession Dua Lipa was spotted hanging out at EDC this past weekend in complete disguise and festival gear.

You could also catch the artists, like Marshmello, Afrojack and a slew of other DJs walking around willy nilly enjoying the festival like everyone else.

5. God’s Plan was Everywhere
If you haven’t heard Drake’s single “God’s Plan” then you’ve been living under a rock. It was also one of the most highly featured songs in many DJ’s sets, from Tiesto to Martin Garrix to Slushii to Hardwell and Diplo. Apparently everyone wanted to be reminded that Drake only loves his bed and his mama.
6. Kenny G Makes An Appearance
In the most bizarre turn of events, the legend known as Kenny G was brought out on stage during DJ Ookay’s set on Saturday night. I can say that I personally was not at this set but it had everyone talking.

All in all, Electric Daisy Carnival is a music festival I recommend anyone attend, even if just one. Make sure you’re super hydrated and that you remember to show some peace, love, unity, and respect.
