It’s Friday and that means LOTs of new music has been released today. If you have a streaming music service (Spotify, Apple, Tidal), chances are they provide you with the latest releases. There are plenty of earworms, many that you’ll put on repeat! Prepare your earbuds for some great new music to jam to this first weekend of summer!
SINGLES
Only You – Cheat Codes & Little Mix
This one is a certifiable bop. Cheat Codes is known for making catchy pop collaborations and Little Mix is severely underrated. This is one you’ll be listening to all summer long!
Come On To Me – Paul McCartney
The icon, the legend, Paul McCartney is back with new music after four years. This upbeat jam is refreshing, especially if you’re accustomed to listen to mainstream or top 40 style music. It kind of reminds me a little bit of Modest Mouse when they first arrived on the scene.
The Light Is Coming – Ariana Grande (featuring Nicki Minaj)
You can add this collaboration between Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj to their growing list of hits. The beat to the song sounds a bit video gamey, almost like something out of Super Mario, but its infectious and makes you want to listen again and again.
Big God – Florence + The Machine
I’m a sucker for anything that Florence Welch does. Her voice is powerful, emotive and sucks you into the music. The build in the song is slow and highlights her vocal strengths. This is classic Florence + The Machine.
Drunk People – Chris Lane
You may know Chris Lane from his hit single “Fix” or his latest collaboration with Tori Kelly “Take Back Home Girl.” This latest single off his next album will be blowing up country radio all summer. The song is exactly what it sounds like and being affected by bad decisions drunk people make.
ALBUMS
Pray For The Wicked – Panic! At The Disco
Panic! is back with their brand new album. They released quite a few singles including “Say Amen (Saturday Night)” and “(Fuck A) Silver Lining”. Their musical style has continued to evolve over the years, but the one thing that remains the same is Brendon Urie’s sick vocal range.
Dan + Shay (Self Titled) – Dan + Shay
Now on their third album, the country duo known as Dan + Shay put out an even stronger effort. Backed by their singles “Tequila” and their duet with Kelly Clarkson “Keeping Score” this in my opinion will be the album that solidifies the duo not only in country music, but the mainstream. They’re an incredibly talented duo who make great music.
Expectations – Bebe Rexha
Bebe’s debut album has finally arrived. The singer songwriter whose career has continued to blow up thanks to her various features, now has an album to call her own. Her lead single “Meant to Be” a country-pop crossover with Florida Georgia Line has given Bebe momentum and elevated her appeal even further. This 14 track album has something for everyone.
Joytime II – Marshmello
I had the pleasure of seeing Marshmello twice in the past year at Electric Daisy Carnival in Orlando and Las Vegas. The man knows how to put on a show. His drops are incredible and his beats captivating. This album came as a surprise, but I’m grateful.
You can check out these and many more new releases on streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple, Tidal, Google Play Music) or you can go and buy these albums in person at a big box retailer if you feel inclined!
