Just over a month after Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital for a suspected overdose, the man responsible for her near-death situation is speaking out.
Brandon Johnson told TMZ that the singer texted him at 4:00 am on the morning of her overdose. She invited him over. He claims she never openly asked for the pills, but he took a hint and brought them.
The two of them took the pills together.
You can see his interview here.
According to Johnson, Lovato knew the pills were not pharmaceuticals, but that they were stronger. He is also denying that anyone had laced them.
Johnson says he left around 7:00 or 8:00 the next morning, while Demi was sleeping with no sign of distress or trauma.
Around 11:30 am, Demi’s assistant found the singer in deep distress and called 911.
Recent reports from TMZ say the pills were from Mexico and someone had allegedly laced them with fentanyl. Many sources also believe that fentanyl- laced Oxycodone had likely triggered her OD.
Her dealer kept insinuating that the pair had done drugs together many times in the past and had even had a sexual relationship at one point. Sources close to Lovato have strongly denied a sexual relationship, but they never denied their drug use. They’ve even gone so far as to say they knew Johnson was “bad news” and went through great lengths to keep her away from him.
Johnson was arrested back in March, one month before he allegedly connected with the Lovato. Authorities found him with a stash of guns, drugs and cash. When cops picked him up, he allegedly had narcotics, a fully loaded semi-automatic handgun, and $10k in his pocket, and they discovered more guns, drugs, and ammo at his home.
Police also arrested him in June and charged him with DUI and possession of cocaine.
In the video, it’s clear that he’s somewhat taking responsibility for his actions, but also blaming Lovato in the same way. He’s so casual while telling his story and something doesn’t seem right to me, but we’ll definitely be hearing more about the drug dealer in the future as sources release more information.
Demi is currently in an out-of-state rehabilitation centre seeking treatment for addiction.
We will continue to keep you updated as more news breaks surrounding Demi’s state and outlets release more information.
