Christmas is a stressful time of year. Yet despite the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we often find ourselves a bit of downtime where we fantasize of other plans we could be doing; such as spending it in the magical city of New York.
One of the biggest and most well-known gifts to come out of the big apple would have to be Saturday Night Live. They’ve touched on everything from politics, to pop culture phenomenons and the reality of the holidays. SNL’s Christmas skits are often some of its best work and help add to the magic of the holidays.
So here are 8 of its funniest Christmas skits that are guaranteed to give you a good laugh.
Wrappinville
Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon’s undeniable chemistry is on full display in this skit about the competitive business of gift wrapping around the holidays. And let me tell you; the puns are endless!
Best Christmas Ever
Matt Damon slayed his hosting duties this past week on SNL, and one of his funniest sketches included this one about the stress of Christmas as a parent. I don’t have kids, but I find this hilarious and potentially a glimpse into my future.
The Christmas Candle
Every year there’s one gift you’re guaranteed to receive and that’s because no one knows what the heck to get you, so they settle on a candle. Here’s a hilarious song that highlights that dreaded Christmas candle in a hilariously relatable way.
Santa Baby
First of all, Ryan Gosling is in it. Second, he plays an adult who is in love with Santa. Can it get any more hilarious than that?
Sump’n Claus
If you’ve been on the naughty list, you’re bound to get a visit from naughty ‘ol Sump’n Claus. Keenan Thompson is hilarious and he’s the kind of guy you want to have around during the holiday season, so being bad might actually be worth it.
Back Home Ballers
Everyone knows (and lowkey loves) the feeling of returning home for the holidays and getting all the attention from your family. This song articulates that feeling perfectly and is bound to give you a laugh.
(Do It On My) Twin Bed
In my opinion, this is by far the funniest skit I’ve seen in a long, long time mainly because of the accuracy of bringing a plus one home for the holidays. And the song will definitely be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. It was also an Emmy Award nominee, so that’s how you know it’s great.
D*ck In a Box
To say this skit took the world by storm is an understatement. It was the very beginning of Justin Timberlake and SNL alum Andy Samberg’s musical comedy partnership and arguably was their pairs greatest success together.
Happy holidays!
