Feeling everything so deeply is both a blessing and a curse.
For those of us who feel everything, our empathy is both our best quality and greatest tragedy. There is no in-between.
We want the entire world and everything in it. We want to hold on tightly, keep all that we cherish close by, and not lose anything.
As people who feel so deeply, we feel an obligation to save all the people, fix everything, and make the world better. We need to feel loved and love others as well. Our hearts beat both for and because of everyone in our lives. We’re eager, passionate people who are constantly trying to make sense of our intense emotions.
We long for someone to hear us and hold us, but our own character flaws and faulty thoughts often hinder us from getting too close to anyone.
We’re honest. We’re genuine. We always feel too much.
I wish I had answers of why we were chosen to be the fragile ones, the easily troubled ones, the heavy-hearted ones. If only I knew why we are stuck carrying all of our emotions in our back pockets. I wish I knew why all of the “easy” stuff is so hard for us. If only I knew why, when everything is said and done, we still feel so empty. But I don’t know, and you don’t know, either.
However, I’d like to think that one day, others will appreciate the strength and love we give. I hope that someday, our deep care for others will pay off. There aren’t a lot of people like us, or maybe there are, and we’re all just hiding behind our own walls.
We are one of a kind. We are the ones who will make this world a little less heavy.
Wherever you are, whoever you are, please don’t stop being yourself. Please don’t stop loving the world and everyone who enters your life. Please don’t stop hoping for better days, trying to get it right and making life beautiful.
Remember, dear, you have a heart of gold. Don’t let the world diminish your gift by saying that you feel too much.
Soon enough, you will find someone who will see all that you are and call you “beautiful.” They will be thankful for you. They will fill that empty place deep inside your heart.
They will call you home.
