6 Podcasts You Should Be Listening To In 2019

We all know how popular podcasts have become, especially with independent podcasting platforms, such as Anchor FM. But did you know that podcasts cover more topics than average, everyday events? You can listen to podcasts on subjects ranging from entertainment and celebrities to spoken word artists to thriller and suspense stories to educational material.

Here are a few amazing podcasts we have recently discovered on Spotify that we cannot wait to dive into:

1. Overdue

Bibliophiles Andrew and Craig provide laid-back reviews of old books that have been collecting dust on their personal bookshelves. With over 300 episodes, the series starts off with a classic John Steinbeck novel, published in 1937. Andrew and Craig also take reading recommendations from their listeners. If you consider yourself a bookworm swimming in an ever-growing ocean of books that you keep meaning to read, then this podcast is for you.

2. Unsolved Murders: True Crime Stories

Brought to you by the Paracast Network, this one is for all murder mystery-lovers. Currently totaling over 100 episodes, this podcast releases new episodes every Tuesday. What I most enjoy are the dramatization snippets that remind me of the board game Clue. Additionally, I love the hosts’ (Carter Roy and Wendy Mackenzie’s) unique dialogue. The podcast itself draws you enough to to where you’re not feeling as though you’re being made to listen, but instead you actually want to know what will happen next!

3. Lipstories

Brought to you by GirlBoss Media, in partnership with Sephora, Lipstories highlights the personal stories of female CEOs as they create their own destinies in the business world. I highly recommend this podcast to any woman who is on the the road to becoming her own boss. Check out this new series now!

4. TED Talk Daily

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve surely seen a TED Talk. Now, you can listen to all your favorites via podcast streaming! TED Talks are some of the best stories you’ll ever hear. They never grow stale either, since the episodes cover everything from entrepreneurial success to scientific breakthroughs (and everything in between). TED Talk Daily  never skips a beat, nor does it disappoint. And they have a wide array of guest speakers that always impress and are so professional. With new shows daily you never have to worry about being bored or losing interest quickly. TED Talk Daily is one I’d highly recommend to anyone who is looking for an informative, and inspiring pick-me-up!

5. The Bright Sessions

If you’re looking for a quick escape, consider a fictional podcast like The Bright Sessions! This series follows the fictitious therapist Dr. Bright and her “special” patients. It’s easy to lose yourself and forget about the stress of the day through these episodes filled with young adults trying to manage their superpowers and live life.

6. Alice Isn’t Dead

Another exciting fictional podcast we’ve dabbled with recently by the creators of Welcome to Night Vale is Alice Isn’t Dead. This podcast is unique as it is a series of radio transmissions into the void from a truck driver in search of her long lost wife, Alice, who fell into a long rabbit hole of conspiracies and sci-fi.

If part of your resolution this year is to explore more podcasts, Unwritten has you covered! From the Overdue book reviews to Alice Isn’t Dead you don’t even need to pick up a book or renew your library card – although libraries are cozy places to hunker down and plug in your headphones. We hope you enjoy!
