I’ll always admit that I am a proud “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” fan, and have been for many years. However, when it comes to Kylie Jenner I was never a fan, and tried to hold off of looking into her makeup line Kylie Cosmetics. Low and behold, after reading a few really positive blog reviews on her products I found myself on her website in a curious search of what exactly makes her line so great and a shopping cart full of beautiful lip products to try.
Now that I’ve tried her products I have a lot of opinions on the various colours and types I have ordered.
Here is my honest review as an amateur make up fan.
Bare – Matte Liquid
This is described on her website as a ‘nudey pink beige’, and in the bottle and online it looks stunning. I would recommend wearing brown/soft pink eyeshadow to go with it to get a nicer effect. It lasted on my lips the whole day and I didn’t need to reapply once. It also didn’t dry my lips like some online users have expressed, and it felt very light to wear.
Overall rating: 5/5
Charm – Velvet Liquid
It’s described as a ‘dusty pink nude’ and boy is it ever beautiful on your lips! I found it super flattering and very natural looking for those who like to keep it coy in the makeup department. I loved this product but it didn’t last as long as a matte would, so I did need to reapply throughout the day a few times. Otherwise, it was a dream to put on and looked very accurate to the bottle.
Overall rating: 3/5(only because it didn’t last long)
One Wish – Matte Liquid
Another ‘dusty pink nude’, but I wouldn’t say this matches the description. To be honest, it’s more of a dusty orange. Or at least that’s how it looked on my skin. Aside from that, it was extremely easy to apply and actually looks good on other skin tones from what I see online. Personally, I would not rush to get this shade again because I was so disappointed by how it looked on me rather than the beautiful colour it is in the bottle.
Overall rating: 3/5
Passion – Cream Lipstick
It’s described as a ‘cool pink’ on her website, but I would consider this to be a darkish pink. I was actually surprised by how many positive reviews it received until I tried it on myself. This product is a dream! Because it’s a cream it applies super softly and feels amazing on, plus the shade is absolutely beautiful. My only complaint is that because it’s a cream it doesn’t last long. I wish this shade was available in a liquid because I’d buy a ton of them.
Overall rating: 6/5 (it was that good!)
August – Matte Lipstick
Although it’s named after the owners birth month, you can totally wear this any time of the year! It’s labeled as a ‘soft pale nude’ and matches the description perfectly. Although it was a little too pale on my pasty white skin, I feel like it just didn’t match my skin tone this time of year. If I had a bit of colour I believe it would look a lot nicer. Otherwise, it applied easily, felt pretty good on for being a matte, and lasted a decent amount of time before re-applying.
Overall rating: 4/5
Sugar Plum – Lip Gloss
This gloss proudly comes from the KoKo collection Kylie created with her big sister Khloe. It’s a mid-tone nude, whatever that means, but has subtle sparkles to still be noticeable when wearing. It also has a bronze tint to it, and lasts for a few hours before reapplying. I think this might be my new favourite lip gloss because of how simple yet effective it is.
Overall rating: 5/5
Boy Bye – Velvet Liquid
It’s identified as a ‘pinky mauve’ and seemed so dark online, but in reality, it was actually a beautiful shade. It was a little on the darker side, more purple than pink in my opinion, but it looked so great on! And it actually lasted a lot longer than the other velvet liquids I have. This is definitely going to be a new favorite for me to wear!
Overall rating: 5/5
**If you’re looking for a cream lipstick that is similar in shade, I would recommend Passion because they’re very similar in color.
Maliboo – Matte Liquid
I was very happy with this product. This beautiful shade falls under the ‘light cool-toned nude’ category. In fact, it’s almost identical to ‘Bare’ in every sense, but slightly darker. If you want a cheaper alternative, it matched NYX’s Lingerie or Tease perfectly.
Overall rating: 5/5
Glitz – Lip Gloss
I’m not a huge fan of lip gloss to begin with, and this goldy toned one is every reason why. I found for my liking it was waaayyyyy too glittery. If you think it’ll be not as glittery on your lips than in the bottle your mistaken. If it was more subtle than I would have liked it because the glitter did last long and once it was well worn it looked okay, but it was way too much for me.
Overall rating: 1/5
So what I recommend: I really loved her liquid matte lipsticks mainly due to the fact that they lasted so long and applied so easily with little mess. Otherwise, I would still recommend her other lipsticks because they are all just so beautiful in their own way and the quality is just brilliant on almost every one of them.
Overall, I really am happy with the shades I got and would recommend any of them to anyone willing to try. They are pricey but for the quality of the product in itself, it’s totally worth it in my opinion. Especially the ones that lasted a long time throughout the day. I’ll admit, I’m totally obsessed with her lip products, and I kick myself for not buying more.
