There’s one thing in this world I love to do, and it is creeping people on social media. I find it oddly satisfying for some weird reason, so I started doing hardcore creeps on some celebrities’ Instagram accounts and found myself laughing hysterically at some of their first Instagram photos.
Some were cute but a lot were definitely cringey looking back. Yet, they were totally on trend for what Instagram was meant for back in the day (I’m looking at you ‘Nashville’ filter and border!).
Here are some of the most unique first Instagram pictures from some of the biggest stars, and you’ll see what I mean:
Ashton Kutcher
All I have to ask is what the hell is going on, and what is that filter?
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
While she looks adorable and candid, the over editing is totally a throwback to how all of our first selfies were back in the day.
Channing Tatum
Tatum was on board with the Nashville filter r that only cool kids used when Instagram was first a thing, and it’s a selfie classic.
Khloe Kardashian
Contrary to popular belief, her first post is not of herself, but of jewelry, and I am still surprised by this.
Britney Spears
She was fangirling in this photo with The Wanted, and I absolutely love it!
Tyra Banks
The ‘Call Me Maybe’ hype was so real back in the day, so much so that Tyra dedicated her first official post to it. And considering she’s a supermodel you’d think she would have been more dressed up for the occasion.
Jaclyn Hill
This isn’t as bad as some of her other OG cringe-worthy photos that include her Bath & Bodyworks candle obsession, and tons of pictures of random overly edited makeup products, but I love how simple this is.
Chrissy Teigen
While this isn’t cringey, it is adorable how she used her first Instagram photo to be a picture of the love of her life, John Legend, and we stan.
Kylie Jenner
Rainy day fires are pretty lit, and so is Kylie’s Insta game. Haha, get it?
Drake
This looks like a typical Toronto Man’s photo the second they get some fame. They’re out here trying to look hard while trying to contain their excitement, and it’s cringy AF.
Lady Gaga
She is known as the queen of transformations?
Kim Kardashian
This is the classic Kim that we knew and loved. She was girly and sweet, while blowing her fans a kiss to the camera.
Beyonce
Can we please take a moment to appreciate the fact that Queen Bey joined Instagram solely to encourage us to vote for Barack Obama in the election?
Blake Shelton
I don’t know why this reminds me of your typical small town boy post where he’s trying to prove he’s country AF, but it does, and I love it.
Zoe Sugg
Back when her handle was @zoella, this beauty lifestyle blogger had a much different feed full of selfies, sweets, and lots of fun products. Her page may be less personable today, but it’s still sweeter than candy.
Selena Gomez
Instead of a photo, the queen of Instagram decided to celebrate her debut album Star Dance with a video, and it’s great.
Gigi Hadid
It’s not often we get to see her looking like a normal person – let alone teenager – so, this picture is proof that she was in fact like us at some point in her life.
Justin Bieber
He posted this while stuck in traffic. 2011 was a wild year to be the Biebs, but all celebrities have their moments, including him.
Emily Ratajkowski
The bikini babe wasn’t even wearing a bikini in her first photo, and I feel robbed. However, this goes to show that social media can literally change a person; even though she was behind the camera for this shot.
I told you some of these were shocking and slightly second-hand embarrassing. Although, it is funny to look back on some of these and realize that our own photos were often that quality too, and it was totally normal; but now they just look outdated.
Regardless, it’s interesting to see how their game was back in the day, and compare it to how it is now. But, we still love all of them, even if their first photos were cringe and cheesy.
