With the hype of the Jonas Brothers finally reuniting and the finale of Game of Thrones approaching, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have been in the headlines a lot lately. Oh, and we should also mention their wedding is fastly approaching, because that’s kind of a big deal!
While we’ve been hearing so much about both parties, it’s really easy to get caught up in all of the hustle and bustle. But have you ever wondered how they actually met? Because I totally have and I enjoy a good celebrity romantic story!
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK the soon-to-be Mrs. Jonas shared the story of how the two met and fell in love. Believe it or not, it’s actually quite a modern story that we may be able to relate to.
Sophie and Joe had a lot of mutual friends and plenty of opportunities to meet. However, the timing just never worked out. But then came along Instagram and everything changed.
“We were following each other on Instagram, and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue,” the actress told the magazine.
That’s right. Joe Jonas met the love of his life by sliding into her DMs!
It’s funny
Joe’s younger brother Nick met his now-wife, Priyanka Chopra, by sliding into her Twitter DMs as well. He wrote, “I think we should connect.”
Apparently, we all missed our chances in the DMs when the Jo-Bros were all single. Clearly, they’re not opposed to meeting someone online (however we will never discredit Kevin’s story about how he met his wife Danielle on vacation because that’s romantic AF).
In the same interview, the actress also got very candid about what it’s like to live our real-life fantasy of dating a Jonas brother. She admitted that she feels fans hate her a little bit. She said it’s “better now.” She added, “his fans have gotten a bit older. If I’d been dating him during the years when he was appealing to the 14-year-old crowd, it might have been a bit more hostile.”
For those who don’t know, they started dating back in 2016. This was well after the Jonas Brothers prime years of being the most swoon-worthy boyband on the planet.
In an interesting turn of perspective, she also admitted that her GoT fans can be just as defensive and hurtful by sending Joe rude comments.
Besides that, she didn’t share too much about her relationship with the former Disney star other than that he is “the most fun, energetic, positive person [she’s] ever seen.” Much to our disappointment, no other wedding details were shared either.
So for now, we have to wait until the fall of 2019 when they confirmed it will be taking place.
Oh, and if you were expecting any Game of Thrones spoilers, she didn’t say a word about that either. So you’ll have to tune in when it premieres sometime this month!
