As we get older, we learn new skills and try to improve with time. While I think that I’m slowly accomplishing these things, something I’ve definitely excelled and improved at is how much food I can eat. Seriously, it’s like my stomach is a bottomless pit, and I really don’t hate it. I love and appreciate food to the fullest. While I definitely face silent judgment from some people, sometimes I get lucky enough to meet others who are just as hungry as me.
Here are 15 things you can definitely relate to if you’re always hungry:
1. You Aren’t a Picky Eater
You’re open to trying new foods and dishes. Some call you “worldly,” but in reality, it’s just because you’re always hungry.
Seriously, you’ll eat anything.
2. Your Food Intake Has Increased
The amount of food you can eat increases exponentially — inevitably shocking family and friends every time you go home.
3. The Grumbles
We all get them so there’s nothing to be ashamed of! Everybody you know has become used to the sounds of your stomach grumbling…
“Was that me, or you?”
4. Food > Drinks
You spend more on food than on drinks during a night out. A second drink or more chicken nuggets? Or both?
Cardinal rule: always get the chicken nuggets.
5. People Judge
Honestly, I’ve had my fair share of judgment from people about the way I eat. It’s one thing to be concerned about my diet, but another to be vocal about it.
You know my name, not my story!
6. It Ain’t Cute
You don’t understand how people can look cute when they’re eating. It’s so hard to focus on eating like a human being when you’re focusing on enjoying your food!
7. Hangry!
You need food to function — it’s basic biology! And if you don’t get your food, subsequently, you get impatiently angry; ‘hangry’ if you will.
When you’re hangry, you can barely carry a conversation and you basically turn into a monster.
8. You’ve Cried at The Sight of Food
See point #6 for reference. Following the ‘hangry’ stage, food will make you incredibly happy and sometimes, move you to tears.
A good slice of pizza will have you feeling some type of way.
9. People Who Aren’t Hungry Confuse You
You don’t understand how people can be full after one meal while you’re in a constant state of hunger. And please don’t get me started on people who “don’t do” desserts…
You’re 99.9% sure that they’re lying, but it still shocks and confuses you!
10. Comfort Food
You understand the concept of and need for “comfort food.”
From ice cream to late night McDonald’s, eating your feelings can help… it’s cathartic.
11. You Are a Takeout Expert
You’ve been in such extreme situations where you desperately need food, so you know when most places close, the delivery fees, and the reviews.
You may even know the delivery people (the Dominos delivery guy recognizes me and I have no shame).
12. You Always Have Snacks
You have snacks in your backpack and purse, at all times.
You would think that somebody who always has snacks would never be hungry — and that’s where you’re wrong.
For some reason, you can never pack enough snacks.
I could eat a burger after lunch and still be hungry.
13. You HATE Tiny Portions
Seriously, I can do without the small portions with mystery goo drizzled all over it. At this point, it is just plain rude. Also, did I order the kid’s meal, or is this the appetizer?
Cute, but this is not the tiny food Instagram page.
14. You’re Creative With Food
You’re basically a culinary mastermind. Master Chef, here I come! Peanut-butter and pickle sandwiches… anybody? Some of your more unconventional meals may gross people out, you are proud of your creations!
15. Boredom = Hunger?
Often, you confuse your boredom with hunger, because being hungry is your ‘normal.’ As a result, you may find yourself mindlessly eating the snacks you had saved for when you were hungry.
Oops.
So, next time somebody’s “concerned” about how much you can eat, remember that you are not alone. They’re probably just jealous because if anything, this is a talent.
