The Top 7 Movies And Shows Coming To Netflix In December

There’s a good chance you’ve been spending a lot of time on Netflix this year. At this point, you may even feel like you’ve watched just about everything the streaming platform has to offer. Thankfully, dozens of brand new movies and shows will drop this month, including these seven amazing titles. Don’t forget to add all of these titles to your Watch List and set reminders so you don’t miss out! Here’s what we’re watching:

1. Break —  Coming Dec. 3

In this French romantic film, Lucie finds herself emotionally lost after a serious accident. Just when she hopes to rediscover herself as a dancer, though, she meets Vincent, a talented breakdancer who is struggling a great deal himself. This dance drama is full of laughs, love and absolutely incredible choreography. 

2. Selena: The Series (Part 1) —  Coming Dec. 4

Watch Latin music icon Selena Quintanilla rise to international fame in this scripted biopic series. Developed in part by Selena’s real-life sister, Selena: The Series showcases the sacrifices both Selena and her family made so that she could become one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of all time. 

3. The Prom —  Coming Dec. 11

What do Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, and Kerry Washington have in common? They, along with a dozen other talented stars, all appear in Ryan Murphy’s LGBTQ musical extravaganza! In this film, a group of theatre students rally behind a young girl who just wants to take her girlfriend to prom. While the subject matter is very serious, you’ll sing and dance along with this all-star cast in this cheerful comedy that takes place in a small Indiana town. 

4. Tiny Pretty Things (Season 1) —  Coming Dec. 14

Based on the book of the same name, this series follows along as three teenage girls fight for the top spot in their elite New York ballet academy. This mystery thriller series feels a bit like Pretty Little Liars meets Black Swan with all of the intense betrayal and cutthroat competition at the Archer School of Ballet. 

5. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom —  Coming Dec. 18

Transport yourself to 1927 when blues music first made waves throughout different communities in Chicago. Tensions rise at a music studio when blues singer Ma Rainey (Viola Davis) joins her band for a recording session and a trumpeter named Levee (Chadwick Boseman) aspires to mix things up in regards to how blues music is made, performed, and perceived. 

6. The Midnight Sky —  Coming Dec. 23

Brave the unknown alongside Oscar winner George Clooney, Felicity Jones, and Kyle Chandler in this post-apocalyptic sci-fi space thriller based on the 2016 novel Good Morning, Midnight. Augustine (Clooney), a lone scientist living deep in the Arctic with his daughter, rushes to make contact with a crew of astronauts to keep them from returning to Earth in the wake of the mysterious global catastrophe that left him stranded there.  

7. Bridgerton (Season 1) —  Coming Dec. 25

Leave it to Shonda Rimes to give new life to the period piece genre. This is the highly anticipated first series from Shondaland to hit Netflix. The series follows the eight siblings of the Bridgerton family as they search for love, acceptance, and happiness during the social season. Keep a close eye on Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers as she (or he?) uncovers all the scandals blazing through London’s high society. Based on the best-selling romance series by Julia Quinn, this series is giving us major Gossip Girl vibes, and we’re here for it.

There are plenty of new shows and movies coming to Netflix in December, but these seven are at the very top of our list. If you’re in the mood to laugh, cry, sing-along, solve mysteries, or watch real-life heroes on screen, then you’ll definitely enjoy one of these recommendations.
