Say goodbye to your winter coat, boots, and scarves. Spring is finally here, and the return of sunshine and warmer temperatures calls for celebration. However, it’s perfectly fine if you don’t have the time or budget to book a tropical getaway this spring— there are plenty of opportunities to bring the fun directly to your own backyard. From frozen drinks to loud, beachy music, here are four ways you can host the spring bash of a lifetime.
1. Garden Party
Springtime is a rebirth and if you have a green thumb, a garden party is the perfect opportunity to get your friends together and show off your beautiful spring plants.
Decorate your outdoor tablescapes in pastels, and create a refreshing menu with crisp, cool salads, fruit and cheese charcuterie boards, and crostini.
You can even make “winesicles” for your guests to enjoy as they lounge in your garden. You’ll need a bottle of pinot grigio, edible flowers, simple syrup, and a popsicle mold to make this easy, delicious frozen dessert.
2. Aloha Party
Although spring isn’t always beach weather, you can still throw a beachy party to celebrate the months of warmer weather ahead. A luau bash will make you and your guests feel like they’ve escaped to the islands without ever leaving your neighborhood.
In Hawaiian, “aloha” means “breath of life,” which is rather fitting for spring. Decorate your home with bright, colorful flowers, pineapples, and multicolored leis for your guests to wear.
Surprise your friends with grilled pineapple, apricot chicken, and coconut rice for lunch. Don’t forget to serve up fruity cocktails as well!
- 3. Spring Picnic
Take your spring bash to a nearby park for a classic picnic with your friends and family. Spread out on blankets and pack sliders or sandwiches for lunch. Seasonal fruit, like kiwi, strawberries, honeydew melon, and apricots are always delicious for a spring picnic. Don’t forget the lemonade and wine!
Be sure to bring plenty of games for everyone to play. Cornhole is a fun, easy game, and it makes for hours of outdoor entertainment.
4. Backyard Movie Night
Buy a projector, and invite your friends over for a backyard movie night. If you’re a movie buff, you’ll love having a projector, and you can even use it for future movie nights.
Set up your space with blankets, pillows, and comfortable lawn chairs for people to sit on. You can also decorate your backyard with twinkle lights to make your outdoor movie theater feel even more cozy.
If you really want to go all-out, you can serve popcorn in actual movie theater popcorn boxes to give everyone the “drive-in movie” feeling.
Spring is the perfect time to throw a party, and there are plenty of party themes to run with! Whether you have a beachy luau party or a cozy movie night, all of your guests are sure to have fun celebrating this spring!
