The end of the school year is coming! No more pencils, books, or teacher dirty looks! We have field days, field trips, parties, and several other celebrations to help us celebrate the end of the year.
Amidst the end-of-year festivities, it’s like our students have taken a vacation from their manners. The classroom turns into a circus, and we teachers are the clowns. To capture this chaos, let’s turn to our beloved “Abbott Elementary” teachers, who always manage to find humor in the madness.
1. When your star pupil starts acting out in class.
Noooo!!!!!
2. When the class won’t stop talking, you decide to sit on the floor and wait for them to stop.
I can sit here all day, guys. Well, at least until the buses come.
3. Seeing students’ growth since the beginning of the year.
4. When you sit for read-aloud, and someone mutters “skibbidy toilet.”
We’re done; go back to your seats.
5. When it’s field day, and your class steps out in style.
We’ll see you on the field!
6. When a student raises their hand to tell you a story during a lesson.
That’s great, bud, but I need to get through this lesson by the end of the period!
7. When a student asks to go to the bathroom for the fifth time in the past 20 minutes.
I don’t even need to go that much, and I have three drinks on my desk. SIT DOWN!!!
8. When a student comes in with recess drama.
Girl, come on! Seriously?
9. When you get another field trip permission form in your mailbox.
Another one? I haven’t recovered from the last one!
10. When you finally get all the kids on the bus at the end of the day.
I love y’all, but you drive me bonkers some days.
11. When you debate skipping math and giving the class extra recess instead.
Hey, we teachers need some brain breaks ourselves.
12. When the same two students keep getting out of their seats when they were told not to.
If I give you that look, you better stop what you’re doing and get back in your seat.
13. When you see students doing the opposite of what they were told to do.
There comes a point when you just give up. It’s either that or cry.
14. When you see one of your students acting up in the hallway.
I will turn this line around, and we will try that again.
15. When it’s finally the last day.
WE DID IT!!!
We teachers truly love our students and the families we form with them throughout the school year. But that doesn’t mean they don’t drive a little crazy at times.
Happy end of the school year!
