Vacations are overrated. Planning one and then actually enjoying everything about it can take so much of a toll that you need a vacation from your actual vacation.
Every time I request off of work, I make sure I ask for more days than my actual trip. For example, if I’m going to Florida for three days, I ask for four off. That way I actually have a day to recuperate from everything. And honestly, people need to take more of these kinds of vacations.
Staying at home relaxing with your S/O, watching a movie, ordering pizza, and just simply enjoying each other with none of the work responsibility hanging over you is incredibly underrated. Don’t get me wrong. I dream of a day where I can travel to New York or California to see what all the fuss is about. But there’s just something about staying home that seems to refresh me more.
When you go on an actual vacation, it’s more work than actual relaxation. You have to plan everything out, find a place to stay that you can afford, find things to do, and then make it back home before you crash and the world doesn’t hear from you again.
Why Vacation when you can Staycation?
Maybe it’s the introvert in me, but getting out of bed at 10, eating, binging Netflix, and going back to bed refreshes me more. I love the idea of spending the whole day binging the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy (Extended Editions of course), putting together a puzzle, or reading a good book!
There’s still so much you can do without having to go anywhere at all!
Go on a Day Trip!
Day trips are actually more fun and entertaining to me. Sure, it severely limits what you can do and where. But at the end of the day, you’re back in your own bed. And isn’t that what we all really want?
Sure, depending on where you are located, there might not be much. But that’s when you can get creative with a staycation!
Do whatever refreshes you best. Whether that’s traveling to Europe or lounging on the couch in your living room. Nobody else is going to make sure you’re fully relaxed. Do what’s best for you!

Can’t you just do that on the weekend?
