Halloween is one of the most celebrated holidays. People get to dress up as their favorite characters, pair up with their partners or friends in group costumes and stay up late while enjoying festive drinks and themed party foods. If you’re hosting a party this year, these recipes will truly shock all of your guests (young and old) and you’ll be known as the best host in town.

Love at First Bite: Fun Appetizers
1. Puking Pumpkin
If you want to give your friends a fun visual for parties, carve a pumpkin and make the eyes seem like they’re squinting and the mouth wide open. Place your favorite party dip in the mouth like it’s puking. You can do this with guacamole that you can serve with tortilla chips or you can do ranch and veggies. Either way your friends will be disgusted at the sight but delighted at the taste.
Here’s a quick guacamole recipe:
- 3 ripe avocados
- 1 lime
- 1–2 cloves of garlic, grated on a Microplane or finely minced
- Large pinch of salt
Directions:
To cut the avocados, run a knife around the avocado (from top to bottom) and twist in half. Pull out and discard the pit. Using a spoon or your thumb, remove the flesh and place into a medium-sized bowl.Cut the lime in half and squeeze both halves into the bowl with the avocado, being careful not to get any seeds in the bowl. Add the garlic, salt and any/all or none of the optional ingredients. Using a fork gently mash each avocado half a few times then stir all ingredients together.
2. Mummy Hot Dogs
You can never go wrong with these and they’re super easy to make.
Use two small dots of mustard for eyeballs. You can use full size hot dogs or little smokies.
Ingredients:
- 8 hot dogs (1 package)
- 8 ounces refrigerated crescent (1 can)
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a pan with parchment paper. Unroll the dough and then press the perforations to seal, creating 4 rectangles. Then cut strips about 1/4″.
2. Mummy dogs with crescent rolls
3 .Wrap the dough around the hot dogs and then place on the pan.
4. Mummy dogs with crescent rolls
5. Bake for 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool a few minutes before serving. Serve while warm.
Feast your Eyes: Main Dishes
1. Bloody Spaghetti and Eyeballs
Prepare a classic meatball and spaghetti dish, right before serving put a round piece of mozzarella on top and a thin slice of green olive to give the illusion of an eyeball. Guests will be delightfully freaked.
2. Enchilada Graveyard
Prepare an enchilada casserole and after it’s been warmed in the oven, top with lettuce. On a separate cookie sheet, cut out tortilla shells into the shapes of graveyards and stick into the top of the dish. Guests will be so excited to grave dig (see what we did there?).
Dig Your Sweet Teeth In: Desserts
What’s a party without a fun dessert or two? Halloween themed desserts have endless possibilities but to keep up with our easy theme, here’s two of our favorites that are quick to throw together.
1. Frankenstein Rice Krispies Treats
Make your cereal treats as normal but this time adding a little bit of green food coloring. Once cooled, cut into squares and decorate with frosting to make a hair line and candy eyeballs. Everyone will love what you’ve cooked up in your lab.
2. Monster Bundt Cake
Prepare a bundt cake in a bundt pan as you like. Find some green frosting and melt it in a drippy pattern all over the cake. Using a piping bag and frosting or candy eyeballs, decorate the cake to appear to have all eyes on your guests.
They’ll love the spooky sweet treat.
