Florida is a popular tourist destination for families and couples alike — mostly because it has great weather and is lots of fun to visit. If you want to have a good time in Florida but don’t want to spend too much on tourist attractions, there are still plenty of fun options for you. Here are four low-cost tourist destinations to visit in Florida.
- Fun Spot America
Fun Spot America, which has locations in both Kissimmee and Orlando, is home to some of America’s favorite activities, like roller coasters, go-karts, and carnival-style games. The variety of rides at this chain of parks makes it fun for guests of all ages.
You can purchase Fun Spot season passes or single-day tickets online. Season passes include access to all three Fun Spot locations: Kissimmee, Orlando, and Atlanta.
- Gatorland
Orlando’s Gatorland is home to a wide range of animals, like alligators, crocodiles, snakes, and even capybaras. It may sound like a strange mix, but that makes it even more fun for visitors who love all types of animals.
The park offers single-day admission at $32.99 for adults and $22.99 for children. Annual passes are also available — they’re $49.99 for adults and $34.99 for children ages 3-12.
Aside from the shows and animals you can see with general admission, the park also offers other attractions you can pay for in addition to your park admission. One of the most memorable adventures is the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line where you can fly up to 65 feet above gators and crocodiles on a zipline adventure.
- Kennedy Space Center
Located on the East coast of Florida, Kennedy Space Center is an incredible tourist destination. The Space Center features exhibits and interactive experiences grouped by era, and you even can get up-close and personal with the actual Atlantis shuttle. You can also hop on a bus to see restricted areas of the Space Center, which is lots of fun if you love everything outer space.
Single-day admission to Kennedy Space Center costs $75 for adults and $65 for children. You can also purchase two-day admission or annual passes. While this is one of the pricier destinations on this list, it’s far less expensive than Orlando’s biggest theme parks, and it’s definitely worth the splurge!
- The Everglades
Everglades National Park, which is in south Florida, has 1.5 million acres of wetland. You can hike or bike through the park or explore it by car or boat as well.
The park has a “dry” season from December to April and a “wet” season from May to November. This is important to keep in mind when you plan a visit because you may encounter larger crowds during the “dry” season. “Wet” season has fewer ranger-led programs and some mosquitoes to keep you company, though, so choose whichever option feels best for you.
If you plan on driving, the cost to enter the park is $30 per vehicle, but if you’d rather cycle, it’s $15 per cyclist. An annual pass to the Everglades Park is $55.00.
