Paris Paloma is a British singer-songwriter who has been writing her own music since she was 14. Now, she’s 24 and recording in studios, creating new trending music. Her first studio-recorded song, Labour, got a lot of recognition after being featured on TikTok last year. Paris just now released her new song The Warmth on Friday. Paris Paloma’s music is artistically unique. It also has strong musical changes that one can feel cause a shift in emotions when listening.
I had the pleasure of hearing a sneak peek of “The Warmth” while watching the music video. In the video, we see several women dancing under a large, full moon. It invokes a sense of grounding, as well as transformation. This song was released to capture the attention of fans as she preps for her new album release on August 30.
Literature from her managing company describes her upcoming album and Paris’ style:
“Known for her unnerving, journal-like lyricism and incisive strain of dark folk-pop, her anticipated debut album Cacophony combines human experiences of grief, love, patriarchy, and trauma with Greek mythology, fantasy, and the literary gothic. She hits listeners at their core, painting vivid pictures with her incisive words and dramatic instrumentation.”
I think Cacophony will be an album that evokes a lot of emotion in Paris’ fans. It will also give them the means to find expression for their own.
Paris recently finished a world tour, where she headlined and had an amazing experience sharing the stage with Stevie Nicks. A press release from her company describes her style of music as well as inspiration for the album title with the following:
“Through her thoughtful and confident lyrics, Paris Paloma paints pictures and tells stories with her songs, drawing parallels between the past and present to bring her own perspective on themes of love, grief, death, and power. With a Goldsmiths degree in Fine Arts, her songwriting and visuals are inspired by fantasy as much as real life, drawing inspiration from mythology, art history, and the Romantics, alongside the human race experience.”
The album title, “Cacophony,” is inspired by Stephen Fry’s “Mythos,” ruminating on the creation myth. “From this chaotic cosmic yawn, creation sprang forth,” said Paris. She continued: “So this is a collection that makes sense of the overwhelming space of my mind where my anxiety, my OCD, and trauma processing lives.”
You can find Paris’s music on all music streaming services, including YouTube and Vimeo. We can’t wait to hear the rest of the album and hope you’ll get some enjoyment out of it too. Have you heard any of Paris’s songs? Let us know in the comments below!
