Netflix just announced that it will be releasing an unnamed stand-up comedy event series that will feature 47 comics.
Over the past year, Netflix has been the home for comedy legends such as Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. It has become the go to spot to discover new specials and comics. This new comedy series will allow Netflix users to discover new comics from all over the world in half hour episodes.
The special will be released in 2019 and will be filmed at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. The festival is a 2-week-long comedy fest with everything from stand ups to sketches to podcasts. The 2018 festival will be taking place in Montreal. It will feature an incredible lineup such as Tiffany Haddish, Trevor Noah, Tig Notaro, and more. The most impressive part of this special is the variety of comics from all over the world.

Over the past few years, Netflix has made a big splash in comedy. Taking on indie stand-ups and making them a house hold name (i.e John Mulaney). Years ago, HBO did the same thing with its coveted HBO Half Hour Special, which at the time was huge for a stand up comic. In some cases, these specials lead to their own original shows (i.e Everybody Loves Raymond and others).
